Community Amenities

The City of Decatur provides all the amenities of a large city, but in a small town way. Listed below are a few primary amenities the city has to offer its citizens and businesses.

Parks

        The City of Decatur parks system includes professionally maintained little league baseball, softball and soccer fields as well as playgrounds, picnic facilities, gazebos and a skate park.

        The Decatur Independent School District is home to the following schools:

Public Library
     The Decatur Public Library offers onsite public internet access as well as free Wi-Fi to its patrons.  It features a dedicated children's department and offers programs for all ages throughout the year.

Civic Center

            The Decatur Civic Center features state of the art meeting and event facilities from individual  suites to the great hall and offer complete services for any event, large or small.

Decatur Municipal Airport
 
            The Decatur Municipal Airport offers flight training, aircraft service and rental as well as 24 hour self-service fuel.

  Decatur Visitor Center

  
      The Decatur Visitor Center is located in the historic US Post Office building and is also the location of the Decatur Main Street Program offices.  Visitors can find information about Decatur and Wise County including maps and other resources for the area.

Decatur Main Street Program

        The City of Decatur was designated a Texas Main Street City in 1994.  Program volunteers use the Main Street 4 Point Approach of Organization, Design, Promotions and Economic Restructuring for the designated 9 block area in the historic downtown working with building owners, business owners and community organizations focusing on historic preservation and economic revitalization of the district.
